welcome to cmcMOO

This MOO is run by the Department of Humanistic Informatics and the HF Computing Section at the University of Bergen. It is used for experimenting, training and research purposes and publicly open. Join us!

If you need help logging in, or would like to know more about what MOOs are and how to use them, lingo's pages give plenty of information, or try the FAQ for help on logging in, and then type @tutorial or help once you're in the MOO.

Background

The MOO was established in 1999 by the cyber/media/culture (cmc) project at the University of Bergen. Two major projects live here:

arrow The Midsummer Night's Dream project. This project aims to create a MOO environment for teaching, learning about and exploring English literature in general and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in particular. This area of the MOO allows students to wander through versions of the fictional landscape in Shakespeare's play and to explore the Globe theatre and the surrounding streets of Southwark as they were in Shakespeare's time. Discussion areas and teaching facilities are also being made available. lingo.uib
arrow pURLmoo, an experimental project administrated by John Cayley and others. In pURLmoo language is pushed to its limits and writers test the possibilities of words in MOOs.

There are also other places in this MOO. The CyberMountain conference met here in June 1999, and the keynote and discussions can be replayed by visitors. Other areas may grow forth in time.
